Strongest Flashlight in the World

by Jim Arrows February 1, 2022
Brightest Flashlight

There are bright flashlights and then there are really bright flashlights. But, first things first…What is the brightest flashlight in the world? That would be the Imalent MS18 if you’re speaking strictly about flashlights that you can buy. Although there are some brighter flashlights that have been created as novelties, you can purchase the Imalent MS18 online.

Of course, you may not need THE brightest flashlight on the market. If that’s you, you’ll be happy to know that there are other bright flashlights on the market that are less expensive and have less lumen output. Those other options deserve mention. If you’re looking for a flashlight that will surpass your run-of-the mill option, the first question you might ask is what you need to illuminate. A hiking trail, a backyard, a dark street, a valley? In this article, we deliver the goods by showing you our top recommendations based on lumen count. We also point out some excellent runner up options that cost less and function exceptionally well in terms of cost compared to brightness. As a bonus, we offer recommendations about a few headlamp since many of our readers are heavy headlamp users.

Brightest Flashlight in the World

Before we get into our review, some informaiton about the Imalent MS18 is in order. If you’re wondering what makes this handheld light so bright, the short answer is that this 18 LED array powered device projects 100,000-lumens of blinding light. If you look more closely at the design, you’ll also see LEDs are arranged to aggregate and maginfy their power around a well-designed reflector. This type of reflector depends on various modes and sequences to accelerate and then throttle down the power (and heat) required to reach such a high lumen count. Unlike most flashlights designed today, this flashlights also relies on a cooling system. You might think of it as a handheld helicopter floodlight that pushes the current LED technology to the limit, but also has some constraints because of that. All the same, this monster of a light projects a beam down-range to approximately one mile.
